Funding & fundraising

We are a small, local charity operating on a low-cost basis. Nevertheless, to meet our running costs, we need to raise the equivalent of about £150 for every day we open our doors; around £40,000 each year.

Funding & corporate giving

St Anne’s relies on the generosity of the community. Our local parishes, schools and colleges, the business community and individuals have long been (and remain) our bedrock. It is truly amazing that this support has kept this organisation working with the homeless in Brighton for over thirty years.

As a matter of policy, we do not accept funding which ties our hands as to who we can support. This is also useful to some of the agencies we work with, as we can give help to people they may be unable to approach.

What needs funding?

Our main costs are premises and salaries. We try to keep our food costs to a minimum but we do still need to raise many thousands of pounds each year.

Individual fundraising

St Anne’s couldn’t survive without the support of our local community. If you’d like to get involved in fundraising for us, there are simple and effective ways to help: if you are running a 10K, holding a quiz night or having a bake sale, at work, school or at home, please do consider fundraising for us!

You can run your own campaign for us through JustGiving.com.

Local business support

Some local shops are very generous, donating bread, milk and other items each week. Parishes and schools all over Sussex give us food donations from their Harvest Festival services.

We are very grateful to our corporate supporters who have helped us.

Donate as you shop

You can help raise funds for us, simply by adding St Anne’s as a chosen charity when you do your usual shopping. Here’s how…

Shop @ Co-op

We are delighted to be a chosen charity in the Co-op’s Local Cause scheme. When you buy selected Co-op products and services, 2p for every £1 spent goes back to you. And Co-op will give the same amount to support us.

In 2019, this initiative delivered £17m to over 4,000 local causes, thanks to Co-op members.  You have to join to find us! Simply become a member of the Co-op using this link, and choose St Anne’s as your local cause.

Online shopping

Amazon Smile

It’s a super-simple way to raise money for us and give yourself a feel-good bonus when shopping on Amazon. It automatically donates a portion (0.5%) of the purchase price of eligible items to us each time you shop, at no cost to you. Just go to smile.amazon.co.uk in your web browser, or activate AmazonSmile on your Amazon shopping app (found under Settings). Select St Anne’s Trust as your chosen charity, and that’s it! Just shop online as normal, always via smile.amazon.co.uk rather than via the usual Amazon website and we’ll get the benefit.

Give as you Live

Sign up with Give as you Live for free, and choose St Anne’s Trust as the charity you wish to benefit. Use the link on the Give as you Live site or app to take you to the retailer of your choice (instead of going to their website directly), and shop as normal.

A percentage of whatever you spend comes directly to us at no extra cost to yourselfSo, spend £100 with M&S online and you raise £5 for us; £100 spent with Amazon raises £2.50, £100 with WH Smith puts £2.00 in our pocket and so on. There are hundreds of retailers on the site, and some of the donations can be as much as 15% of your purchase. By selecting eBay from Give as you Live, for example, you can browse millions of items and still raise money for us, all from the same eBay site.

And another way with eBay…

We also have a link on eBay itself. You may have noticed that when you buy something you are asked if you’d like to make a donation to a charity. Just search for SAINT ANNE’S TRUST (we have our own ID 43745) and choose how much to give – or you can donate some or all of any proceeds of what you are selling.

Thank you for your support
