All at St Anne’s are so saddened to hear of the tragic death of Sue Addis. She was an important part of life here for many years – as a supporter, fundraiser and friend.
Our chair of trustees, Patrick, remembers when Donatello’s started providing minestrone soup each evening for the Brighton Souprun following an arson attack in the old day centre building. This provision continued until the March 2020 shutdown, testament to Sue’s unfailing commitment to homeless people in our city.
She was a friend of St Anne’s for decades, paying for much of our original kitchen equipment, providing food to celebrate St Anne’s Day each year, and giving us a wonderful meal each Christmas – an event which became an annual treat at the Centre, beloved by volunteers and clients alike.
Just a couple of weeks ago, despite Covid restrictions, Sue and the Donatello’s staff still delivered an incredible festive takeaway lunch for over 70 people.
We are so grateful for all Sue did for our charity, and others, over the years. Her generosity and genuine kindness will be sadly missed by our team, and by the many clients whose lives she has enhanced.
The Argus has an online Book of Condolence for people who would like to pay their respects.
